Birth Certificate Clerk

Job Title
Collects and distributes newborn birth information to state and local vital statistics agencies in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education: High School Graduate
Minimum Work Experience: 1 year experience in health information management
Required Licenses/Certifications:
Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities:
- Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position;
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills;
- Requires the ability to handle confidential information; and deals effectively with hospital personnel & duties of position;
- Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
- Skill sets in regards to answering telephones; balancing figures; inputting data into computer programs; maintaining filing systems; maintaining logs; updating patient charts including documentation and proofreading.
- Maintains work area according to OSHA and NIOSH standards.
- Skill sets in regards to equipment including but not limited to calculators; fax machines; laser printer; personal computer; photocopier and word processor.
- Software mastery to include but not limited to: State of Texas Birth Certificate Registry System; 3M Softmed chart view; Chart Scan; IDX; Allscripts and additional software as needed.
