Principal Engineer, Supplier Quality

Becton Dickinson seeks a Principal Engineer for Supplier Quality to lead supplier selection, qualification, and auditing for new product development projects. The role involves driving supplier excellence, managing quality systems, conducting failure investigations, and mentoring junior engineers across global supplier networks.
Responsibilities
- Lead supplier selection, assessment, qualification, and auditing for new product development projects
- Define qualification strategies and requirements for components, devices, and custom materials
- Develop, validate, and implement inspection and test methods for product quality and regulatory compliance
- Conduct failure investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for field issues
- Mentor and train team members and junior engineers on quality engineering practices and supplier processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or scientific field with 6+ years industry experience
- Master's degree in engineering or scientific field with 5+ years industry experience
- PhD in engineering or scientific field with 2+ years industry experience
- Experience with supplier qualification, quality management, and global supplier development
- Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and medical device controls
- Proficiency in statistical quality tools, process validation, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and lead complex technical initiatives independently
