This position works closely with the controller and cross-functional operational leaders to complete month-end close activities, prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and provide reporting that supports departmental decision-making. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious, and eager to grow their accounting skill set while contributing to a mission-driven organization focused on capturing memories, inspiring students, and celebrating achievement.What You Will DoMonth-End Close & Financial ReportingPrepare and record monthly journal entries.Reconcile general ledger accounts; research and resolve variances.Run monthly departmental expense reports and provide supporting detail to managers and supervisors.Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.Operational Accounting SupportGenerate and distribute the weekly departmental labor tracker.Conduct the annual obsolete inventory review and assist with raw material price testing.Provide cash application support during high-volume peak seasons related to customer receipts.Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to perform complex journal entries that require independent problem solving and analysis data.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in accounting or financePublic accounting background preferredAt least 1-2+ years of relevant finance and/or accounting experience preferredAdvanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Physical Requirements:The physical demands that are described as required are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
