Foundation Waterproofing Technician

This role supports foundation waterproofing projects by performing physically demanding construction tasks in outdoor environments. The technician assists with installing spray-applied waterproofing systems and dimple boards, moves materials to and from the worksite, and uses hand tools and shovels to move dirt and dig trenches. This position is ideal for individuals with basic construction or related experience who enjoy hands-on work and are comfortable working in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with foundation waterproofing projects using systems such as Dow Styrofoam Board, HouseGuard Waterproofing System, and Delta MS Foundation Waterproofing Membrane.
• Move materials, tools, and equipment to and from the worksite safely and efficiently.
• Use hand tools and shovels to move dirt, dig trenches, and prepare work areas for waterproofing applications.
• Operate basic hand and power tools as directed, including tools commonly used in general construction and concrete work.
• Support the installation of spray-applied waterproofing and dimple board applications under the direction of experienced team members.
• Perform general construction labor tasks, including site cleanup, material handling, and assisting carpenters and concrete workers as needed.
• Read and use a tape measure accurately to support layout and installation tasks.
• Work effectively as part of a small crew of 1–3 people, following instructions and contributing to a safe, efficient jobsite.
• Travel from the shop to various jobsites, typically within approximately 30 miles of Dane County, and occasionally to projects between Madison and Milwaukee.
• Maintain reliable attendance by showing up on time each day and being prepared to work full shifts in changing weather conditions.
• Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 70 pounds throughout the workday.

Essential Skills

• At least 6 months of construction experience, with the ability to work safely and productively on active job sites.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions for extended periods.
• Capability to lift up to 70 pounds regularly and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day.
• Experience using basic hand tools, including shovels, hammers, and other general construction tools.
• Experience using power tools commonly used in construction, concrete, or carpentry work.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a 5-panel drug test.
• Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality, verified through references.
• Comfort working in a small team environment and following directions from supervisors and experienced crew members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in construction fields such as concrete, waterproofing, carpentry, or general labor.
• Knowledge of spray-applied waterproofing systems or dimple board installation.
• Experience with foundation waterproofing systems such as Dow Styrofoam Board, HouseGuard Waterproofing System, or Delta MS Foundation Waterproofing Membrane.
• Comfort working on commercial construction and new construction sites that are uninhabited.
• Willingness to travel beyond the immediate local area when needed, including projects between Madison and Milwaukee.
• Ability to use and maintain personal hand tools and a tool belt.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn additional construction and waterproofing techniques.

Work Environment

This role is based on commercial construction and new construction job sites that are 100% uninhabited. You will work outdoors approximately 90% of the time and must be comfortable working in all types of weather conditions. Typical hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the possibility of starting as early as 6:00 AM and working as late as 5:00 PM when needed. From spring to fall, you can expect approximately 40–45 hours per week, and during the winter season, about 36–40 hours per week. Each morning, you will meet at the shop and either report directly to the jobsite or ride in a company vehicle as a passenger, with occasional opportunities to ride-share. Most projects are within roughly 30 miles of Dane County, with some work extending between Madison and Milwaukee. You will typically work as part of a small team of 1–3 people. The dress code requires leather boots, high-visibility shirts, a hard hat, safety glasses, and durable pants such as jeans, all of which you must provide. You will regularly use hand and power tools and carry a personal tool belt, and you are expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat and safety gear, at all times on site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $14.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
