Locum NP (Nurse Practitioner), PA (Physician's Assistant) Critical Care

. This is a contract, on-site position that offers an excellent opportunity for an advanced practice provider to deliver high-quality patient care in a critical care setting while enjoying the flexibility of a locum assignment.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing critically ill patients, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the highest standards of care in a fast-paced environment. You will play a vital part in supporting the practice's mission to provide exceptional healthcare services to the Chattanooga community, working alongside experienced professionals who value teamwork and clinical excellence.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients in an on-site medical practice setting
• Perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans
• Collaborate with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary teams to manage complex cases
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed in critical care units
• Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner in electronic medical records
• Participate in rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making for critical care patients
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and health management
• Ensure compliance with medical practice protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain effective communication with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals
• Stay current with advancements in critical care medicine and best practices

Requirements

• Associate-level experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
• Current and valid NP or PA licensure in the state of practice
• Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Experience in critical care or acute care settings
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care
• Flexibility to work on-site in Chattanooga on a contract basis

Schedule: 7p-7a, specific dates

Nightly Volume: 12 patients

Required Procedures: Intubations, central line placements, arterial line placements

Support Staff: MDs and APPs

Must be board-certified

BLCS & ACLS required
