About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit – Alaska

Start Date: September 15, 2026

Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 13-week assignment, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, three 12-hour shifts per week. Every other weekend required (alternating 4 weekend shifts per month). 3:1 patient ratio in a 19-bed high-acuity progressive care unit.

Highlights:

• Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity step-down unit managing complex patient populations including tracheostomy, BiPap, and titratable drip patients
• Utilize EPIC electronic medical record system
• Collaborate with a team-focused nursing staff (7 RNs per shift including charge nurse)
• Gain experience with advanced equipment including bedside monitors, Alaris IV pumps, heated high-flow oxygen, BiPap, chest tubes, and feeding pumps
• Floating opportunities to cardiac surgery IMC, medical-telemetry, medical-surgical, and ortho-neuro units
• Opportunity to participate in emergent cardioversions and manage patients requiring moderate sedation

Requirements:

• Active, permanent Alaska RN license required at time of submission (temporary licenses not accepted)
• Completion of Alaska RN fingerprinting during onboarding
• Minimum 1 year of step-down ICU/Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit experience
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIH-SS) certifications required
• Experience with titratable drips including dopamine, dobutamine, nitroglycerin, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, and amiodarone preferred
• Experience with tracheostomy patients requiring continuous BiPap/long-term ventilator support preferred
• Experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment preferred
