Job Summary:
The Cardiac OR RNFA is a specialized Registered Nurse responsible for assisting in cardiac surgeries, including chest exposure, closing, and independently performing vein harvesting for CABG procedures. The role involves supporting complex cardiac cases such as CABGs, structural heart surgeries, minimally invasive procedures, and heart failure cases, with a preference for experience in DaVinci robotic cases and heart transplants. Strong clinical skills and certifications in cardiac care are essential, alongside collaboration with the surgical team and on-call responsibilities. Responsibilities:
- Assist with chest exposure and surgical closing during cardiac operations.
- Independently perform vein harvesting for Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABGs).
- Scrub and circulate in complex cardiac cases including CABGs, Bentall procedures, minimally invasive aortic valve replacements, and heart failure interventions such as Impella.
- Support heart transplant surgeries when required.
- Participate in on-call rotations as per unit needs.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and procedure efficiency.
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of 2 years cardiac RNFA experience.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
- Telemetry skills.
- Experience assisting in DaVinci robotic cardiac cases.
- Experience with heart transplant procedures.
- On-call responsibilities as required by the unit.
- Work primarily involves cardiac operating room environment with exposure to complex cardiac surgeries.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts including day and evening shifts.
- 36 or 48 hours per week.
- Primarily weekday shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
- Shift assignments and on-call schedules determined by unit needs.
