Adjunct Instructor, English

Job Title Adjunct Faculty – College English, School of Sciences and Humanities – Wentworth Institute of Technology. Teaching Terms Fall 2024 (term starts in early September) Spring 2025 Responsibilities Prepare and distribute a syllabus in accordance with the School of Sciences and Humanities and the provost office recommendation. Teach English 1, English 2, and English 0900 courses in collaboration with the course coordinator. Develop quizzes, labs, and exams; grade assignments and exams in a timely manner. Hold office hours with students outside of class as required. English Courses Overview English 1 (English 0900) – Introduction to college‑level academic writing and research, critical reading and analysis, and writing for varied rhetorical purposes. English 2 – Continuation of English 1, expanding writing and research skills while studying the Enlightenment, Romanticism, Modernism, and Postmodernism through critical reading of diverse texts. English 0900 – Basic English language skills and writing practice for students needing to upgrade readiness for college‑level study through improved reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Minimum Requirements Master’s degree (preferred). Doctoral degree (preferred). 1–3 years of teaching experience in a college setting (preferred). Comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, and practices relevant to English instruction. Preferred Qualifications 3–5 years of teaching experience in a college environment. Experience as a primary course instructor. Compensation and Benefits Adjunct rate varies by instructional mode and number of credits; minimum rate is $1,365 per credit.
