Histology Technologist

Job Summary Under direct supervision, prepares and processes tissue specimens for microscopic examination by a Pathologist. Duties include embedding, cutting, and staining a wide variety of tissue specimens. Essential Responsibilities Mix ingredients and perform quality assurance procedures; prepare solutions, diagnostic test reagents, surgical tissue specimens, tissue and bone sections. Sort, chill, number and label tissue blocks and specimens per specified sequence. Embed tissue; maintain microtome blades; prepare frozen section slides, control slides, and stained microscopic slides. Perform special histochemical and plastic techniques; examine media and reagents for defects, contamination, impurities or instability. Control quality: clean work area, wash glassware and instruments, dispose of laboratory specimens and waste properly; maintain records of testing, daily logs, equipment usage, and maintenance sheets. Calibrate, adjust, clean, lubricate, and perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning. Serve as resource person to co-workers, answer procedural questions, assist in problem solving, and answer telephones and take messages. Administer other activities and responsibilities as directed. Basic Qualifications Recent experience with routine and special histopathological techniques. Preferred Qualifications Histologic Technician Certificate from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (preferred for cytology). Notes This is an on‑call position; days and hours may vary. Duties include preparing, embedding, cutting, and performing quality checks for tissue specimens. Location & Schedule California, Chino Hills Regional Laboratory, Chino Hills, CA. Scheduled weekly hours: 1; variable shift; call‑in/on‑call. Workdays: Monday through Sunday; work hours: 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM.
