Certified Medical Assistant (Float Pool) - Northeast Region, NJ Pay Range: $22.52 - $22.78 per hour Shift: Day Full‑time status Location: 95 Old Short Hills Road, West Orange, NJ 07052 Job Overview The Float Pool seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to perform routine clinical and clerical tasks under the direction of a physician or other health practitioner. Clinical duties include triage, vital‑sign recording, patient preparation for examination, drawing blood, processing prescription refills, and assisting with minor procedures. The CMA serves as a practice ambassador, contributing to overall patient experience, safety, and privacy. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED At least 6 months of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred: Phlebotomy and EKG experience, knowledge of an electronic medical record (EMR) system (Epic) Certifications and Licenses Required BLS Certification approved by the American Heart Association Medical Assistant Certification: AAMA, AECA, AMCA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, NCMA, or NHA Scheduling Requirements Alternating shifts, Monday‑Friday, full‑time Travel required to Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Passaic, and Union County cities Essential Functions Perform clinical tasks such as blood draws, EKGs, hearing and vision screens, urinalysis, injections, vaccinations, medication administration, and minor procedures as needed Support practice needs with clerical tasks: answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co‑pays, preparing lab requests, and other assigned duties Communicate with insurance providers and handle pre‑authorizations and certifications as necessary Prepare rooms, arrange instruments and equipment, and maintain a neat and sanitary environment Room patients, verify patient information, confirm purpose of visit, obtain and record vitals, and update medical history Communicate with patients and other providers under the direction of the overseeing physician or health practitioner Create and maintain health record information, files, and organizing as needed Other duties as assigned Other Things to Know The role may evolve over time based on team needs and priorities; flexibility and readiness to grow are essential.
