Job Summary Position: Catholic Chaplain Salary: $5,743.00 – $7,541.00 per month (minimum salary for new‑to‑state candidates or alternative minimum range when applicable) Final Filing Date: 6/28/2026 Application Methods: Electronic (CalCareer account) or Mail/Drop‑off Under the direct supervision of the Community Resource Manager, the Catholic Chaplain will provide and supervise Catholic religious activities for the incarcerated population at California Men’s Colony, San Luis Obispo. Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and supervise Catholic religious services and programs for inmates. Provide pastoral care, counseling, and spiritual support to inmates, staff, and families as needed. Maintain Vatican-approved sacramental records and ensure compliance with Church requirements. Participate in institutional meetings, training, and collaborative programs to support rehabilitation. Adhere to all CDCR/CCHCS policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Resume. Performance evaluation (within last year). Documentation verifying minimum qualifications: either I Ordained Roman Catholic priest, accredited and in good standing with the Church, and approved by the local bishop; or II Lay person or ordained deacon, with pastoral competence, accredited by a nationally recognized Catholic chaplain certification institution, and approved by the local bishop.
