Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Role: Veterinary Extern – General Practice Location: PetOne Veterinary, An NVA Training Center – Addison, IL Stipend: $1,500 Eligibility: Class of 2027 veterinary students currently enrolled at an AVMA‑Accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. Students must have PLIT insurance (free with SAVMA membership) and medical insurance to participate. Job Overview This externship focuses on clinical training, providing hands‑on experience with local rescue patients. Students will develop skills in wellness, surgery, dentistry, and sick visits across rotating clinics in the greater Chicago area. Responsibilities Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations Develop treatment plans including diagnostics Provide dentistry services Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures Manage patient care and rehabilitation Communicate effectively with the medical team, support staff, and clients Participate in a job fair to engage with NVA leaders across the clinic network Qualifications Class of 2027 veterinary student in an AVMA‑Accredited DVM program Current enrollment status verified Have PLIT insurance and medical insurance EEO Statement NVA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
