Substitute School Lunch

Under direct supervision, assist kitchen manager in preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals for students and staff and in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dishwashing area.

Example of Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of food
• Clean and organize the cafeteria counter
• Serve students and staff at the cafeteria counter
• Remove used dishes and assist in the cleaning of counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area
• Assist in the organization and storage of food, supplies, and equipment
• Assist in keeping all areas in the kitchen and dining area neat and clean
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or General Manager

Qualifications:

• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• High standards of personal hygiene and sanitation
• Basic math skills with the ability to exchange currency

Working Conditions:

The Substitute School Lunch position is an hourly position that works an average of 3.5 hours per day and works on an as needed basis at a variety of school sites. The employee is required to be on call for assignments daily and travel to various school sites. The working hours are normally anywhere from 8:30 to 11:00 in the morning to 1:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon.

Rate of Pay:

The position currently pays $16.94/hour and is not benefit eligible. Working environment & equipment used: The job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting (30 pounds maximum), carrying, pushing and/or pulling; some climbing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling; and significant reaching, handling, speaking, writing, hearing, and fine finger dexterity; frequent standing, walking, and sitting, and lifting up to 30 pounds. High volume of work and strict adherence to workload may be stressful.
