What the Work Looks Like Day to Day A typical week involves regular building and equipment inspections, completing preventative maintenance tasks before small problems become expensive ones, and handling repairs across plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems. When a unit turns, you're helping get it ready for the next resident: cleaning, patching, checking appliances, working through the punch list until it's move-in ready. The on-call rotation is real. Inspect buildings and equipment on a regular schedule and flag issues before they escape Perform preventative and corrective maintenance as needed across the property Check electrical systems for code compliance and safety systems monthly Prepare vacant units for occupancy, including cleaning and repair work Respond to emergency maintenance issues outside of normal business hours as part of the on-call rotation Maintain accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies What Fairstead Is Looking For You’ll need prior experience as a service or maintenance technician, solid general maintenance skills, and enough electrical knowledge to diagnose and handle minor repairs safely. HVAC certification is preferred, not just a nice-to-have on paper. Physical requirements are straightforward: you’ll be on your feet most of the day and need to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
