Generator Field Service Technician, B-Level

Location: Greater Boston and eastern Massachusetts Schedule: Full time, shared on-call rotation Pay: $37.00 to $44.00 per hour, plus company vehicle

LaTrae Consulting Group is recruiting field service technicians for a growing power generation service company in the area. Privately held, long established in the Northeast standby power market, and one of the few service companies in the region that runs its own in-house technician training program instead of poaching everyone else's.

These are added seats, not backfills. New customer work is landing now and they are building headcount to cover it. Direct hire, on their payroll, from day one.

The seat

You run your own board. Start-ups, commissioning, controls, and the day to day troubleshooting on commercial and industrial units, with an A-level tech on the phone when a job goes sideways and next to you when the site is big enough to need two. Truck goes home with you.

The Boston territory has a density of critical load most of the country does not: teaching hospitals, biotech, universities, and the data centers behind them. Work stays regional, so you are home at night.

What you'll be doing

• Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial gen sets from 350kW to 1MW
• Run start-ups and commissioning on new installations
• Troubleshoot controls, ATS, and starting and charging faults on your own
• Preventive maintenance and load bank testing across a route of accounts
• Write accurate repair quotes and complete your own work orders
• Step into larger critical sites alongside an A-level tech
• Shared on-call rotation

What you bring

• 3 to 7 years on generators, most of it on units between 350kW and 1MW; or heavy diesel work with real electrical troubleshooting behind it
• Start-ups and commissioning you have performed yourself, not assisted on
• ATS and transfer switch troubleshooting
• Reading a wiring diagram or schematic to trace a fault, without someone standing over you
• Diesel fundamentals: fuel, air, cooling, starting and charging
• Both gas and diesel units, or the electrical background to pick up the gas side quickly
• Writing your own quotes and work orders
• Experience on any major generator brand
• EGSA certification is a plus
• Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record
• Able to take a shared on-call rotation

Why this seat
