If you are experienced in venipuncture and specimen handling, this role provides a rewarding environment to advance your career while making a meaningful difference for patients and healthcare partners.ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles, ensuring minimal discomfort for patients across diverse demographicsLabel, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens according to established proceduresExplain specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patientsAccurately match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes and ensure proper documentationPackage specimens for transport, maintaining sample integrity and appropriate storage temperaturesRecord maintenance data and perform specimen decontamination and cleaning protocolsUpdate patient information accurately in laboratory systemsFollow all safety and regulatory guidelines, including OSHA and DEP regulations, and wear appropriate PPEAttend annual department training and participate in other duties as assignedAnswer laboratory inquiries and communicate test results as neededRequired SkillsExperience performing blood draws and specimen collectionKnowledge of laboratory specimen handling, labeling, centrifuging, and storingAbility to accurately read and interpret laboratory requisitions and match specimens accordinglyStrong attention to detail and organization skillsExcellent communication skills and ability to explain procedures clearlyAdditional Skills & RequirementsPrevious experience with specimen processing and handling urine or fecal samples is preferredKnowledge of OSHA and DEP regulations related to laboratory practicesAbility to work on Saturdays from 8am to 2pmCertification or licensure in phlebotomy is preferred but not requiredHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredReliable and punctual with a professional demeanorTake the next step in your healthcare career by providing critical support in specimen collection and patient care.
