Administrative Manager

New Hampshire Legal Assistance (NHLA) seeks a full-time Administrative Manager for our Manchester office. The Administrative Manager has responsibility for office administration, legal secretarial support for attorneys and paralegal colleagues, and client relations including intake. This is an in-person position, with occasional remote work as needed, and some travel throughout New Hampshire is required (mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate is provided). Desired start date: as soon as possible, ideally by August 17, 2026. Responsibilities Serve as the primary administrative manager of NHLA’s Manchester office in conjunction with the Managing Attorney. Maintain office supplies and coordinate facility maintenance. Collaborate with attorneys and paralegal advocates to support preparation of correspondence, memoranda, court documents, presentations, and other documents. Provide in-person and telephone reception, greeting visitors and handling telephone calls and email correspondence. Process incoming and outgoing mail. Support attorney and paralegal advocate work through tasks such as scheduling and file maintenance. Conduct confidential interactions with clients by telephone, email, and in person. Provide case preparation, litigation, and project support, including interactions with government agencies and other law firms. Travel throughout New Hampshire occasionally, with mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate. Serve as an interpreter and translator if qualified. Occasionally provide coverage during planned leaves of other administrative support staff in NHLA’s Concord and Portsmouth offices. Candidate Qualifications and Competencies Fluency in a second language widely spoken in New Hampshire, in addition to English (strongly desired; eligible for additional compensation of $1,500 per year). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Current technology skills including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe. Ability to travel occasionally, including to NHLA’s Portsmouth and Concord offices. Commitment to serving people with low income and older adults; knowledge of poverty law or New Hampshire social services is a plus. Position Salary/Benefits This is a full-time, in-person position. Full time is defined as 37.5 hours per week. The position is non-exempt for federal wage/hour law. The anticipated salary depends on prior relevant work experience: $26.15 per hour ($51,000 per year) for 0 years of experience, $27.45 per hour ($53,526 per year) for 5 years, and $29.07 per hour ($56,684 per year) for 10 years of experience. The position is eligible for NHLA employee benefits package including medical/dental insurance, retirement plan, and generous paid time off.
