Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Job Description

We are looking for a Precast Maintenance Technician to join our team and keep our plant, equipment, and production areas running safely and efficiently.

In a precast manufacturing environment, things move quickly—and when a piece of equipment decides it has had enough for the day, we need someone who knows how to get it back in the game. This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment, making repairs, and helping identify problems before they become production-stopping problems.

The ideal candidate is mechanically minded, dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable getting their hands dirty. You don't have to know everything on day one, but you should be someone who enjoys figuring out why something isn't working and how to fix it.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment, machinery, tools, and facilities.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and other equipment issues.
• Diagnose equipment problems and make repairs in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
• Maintain and repair concrete production equipment, including mixers, conveyors, pumps, vibrators, cranes, forms, and related machinery.
• Inspect equipment regularly and identify potential maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
• Maintain lubrication schedules and perform routine servicing of equipment.
• Assist with installation, modification, and setup of new or existing equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance area.
• Work closely with production personnel to address equipment concerns and keep production moving.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
• Assist with general facility maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and maintenance needs with a sense of urgency.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in industrial, manufacturing, construction, heavy equipment, or plant maintenance preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, diagrams, and basic technical drawings.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Reliable attendance and a willingness to respond when the plant needs you.
• Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
• Ability to work around concrete, dust, noise, heavy equipment, and varying temperatures.

The Kind of Person Who Will Do Well Here

You are the person who hears a strange noise coming from a machine and thinks, “Yep... that's not supposed to sound like that.”

You enjoy troubleshooting instead of simply replacing parts and hoping for the best. You take pride in keeping equipment maintained, preventing unnecessary downtime, and finding practical solutions to problems.

You understand that maintenance isn't just about fixing things after they break—it's about keeping them from breaking in the first place.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

This position is performed in an active precast manufacturing facility. The employee will regularly work around heavy equipment, concrete products, machinery, dust, noise, and outdoor conditions.

The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and working in confined or difficult-to-access areas. The employee must be able to safely lift and move materials and tools as required for the position.
