Job Title NDE Performance Demonstration Technical Leader I Location Charlotte, NC Job Summary and Description The successful candidate performs research and engineering functions associated with the NDE Performance Demonstration Test Specimen Fabrication program and other related NDE R&D projects. The primary responsibilities involve design, fabrication, and inspection of ultrasonic qualification specimens used in performance demonstrations for new and existing EPRI NDE projects. The candidate will also ensure project and program compliance with the EPRI NQA-1 Program. Role and Responsibilities Design, fabricate, and inspect test specimens. Write technical reports documenting NDE technical bases and technique validity. Compile and document NDE Performance Demonstration specimen records in accordance with the EPRI QA Program. Maintain existing and develop new specimen manufacturing specifications, working with applicable codes and standards. Implement basic NDE methods and applications. Integrate project results with internal technical experts, global customers, inspection vendors, and regulators. Develop research projects that provide value to EPRI members, solving customer problems and delivering actionable information. Prioritize, allocate, and manage time and budget for assigned tasks. Desired Experience & Skills Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Discipline or equivalent industry experience (at least 5 years). 3+ years of experience in the nuclear industry. Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD design, modeling, engineering practices, and the MS Office suite. Experience in Nuclear Utility or Nuclear Vendor roles and understanding of plant operations, systems, workflow, and project scheduling. Knowledge of ASME Code requirements pertaining to the nuclear industry. Strong technical writing, oral communication, and presentation skills. Experience with manual and/or automated ultrasonic testing (conventional and phased array) is a plus. Experience with Remote Visual Testing of Reactor Internals. Experience with virtual reality environment development. Key Responsibilities & Requirements Work independently on technical activities without direct supervision. Conduct technical searches and analyze information in support of the project team. Handle highly specialized technical objectives with complex cause and effect relationships, using creative and imaginative thinking. Apply technical expertise across related disciplines. Develop technical solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity. Additional Requirements Develop relationships with primary advisors to a research area. Assist EPRI sales staff in Member Services and EPRI International. Communicate strategies and results to program members, potential members, and external stakeholders via guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops, and conferences. Provide oversight of project teams to ensure technical and financial milestones are met. Organize external and interdepartmental activities to complete projects on schedule and within budget. Support planning and execution of complex project work within the technical department to meet member/client objectives; prepare and present research reports. Manage small or medium projects, including budgets and resources. Interface with national and international technical networks such as manufacturers, consultants, academia, and research organizations. Support proposal efforts and new promotional work. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $110,000 to $125,000 USD annually, with potential adjustments based on location, experience, and internal equity. Eligible for EPRI’s annual incentive program; award amounts vary by plan terms and conditions.
