RN - PACU

Registered Nurse - PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)

Join our team in the PACU, a 18-bed Critical Care Post Anesthesia Care Unit, providing care for patients post-operatively. Our facility serves a Level 1 and Stroke Certified Health System, catering to high-acuity patients, including those in step-down and ICU boarding situations. The role involves supporting patients recovering from anesthesia, with a focus on delivering safe and appropriate care.

Three 11.5-hour shifts per week, typically from 1900 to 0730 hours. Weekends required, usually every other weekend.

Responsibilities:

• Provide care for patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, including phase 1 and phase 2 care.
• Monitor and care for vented patients, managing complex cases including those with A-lines, chest tubes, mid-lines, and neurosurgery protocols.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.
• Adapt to various PACU locations as needed, including Interventional Radiology and Ambulatory Surgery Unit.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort during recovery periods.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in PACU, Critical Care, or Emergency Room settings.
• Current NYS RN License.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Current certifications in BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
