Job Description

Job Description

ABOUT US

At Okland, we exist to create remarkable experiences — not just through the projects we deliver, but in the way we show up for our clients, partners, and each other every day. We believe that how we build is just as important as what we build, and our purpose is rooted in people. Whether it's a trusted partner we’ve worked with for decades or a new team member stepping onto their first jobsite, we approach every relationship with care, clarity, and commitment.

We’re a commercial general contractor and construction management company with more than 1,200 team members and a track record of delivering some of the most complex and high-profile projects in the country— from semiconductor and healthcare facilities to professional sports venues and high-end hospitality.

Founded in 1918 in Salt Lake City, we’ve grown steadily for over a century— now with offices in Utah, Arizona, and Idaho—and we’re entering one of the most exciting chapters in our company’s history. We’re building more than projects. We’re building careers, capabilities, and momentum for the future. And we’re looking for passionate, driven people who want to be part of it.

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

Okland is seeking bilingual safety managers to champion a culture of safety and mentorship across our project teams. This individual will lead safety efforts on a commercial construction project in the Greater Phoenix Area, bringing proven experience in the field and a hands-on leadership style. The ideal candidate leads by example, embodying our C.A.R.E. values (Create a Remarkable Experience) and ensuring that everyone on site is informed, engaged, and empowered to prioritize safety in every task.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

  • Monitor jobsite activity and conduct regular safety inspections
  • Document site conditions and safety concerns using reports and photos
  • Lead and support a proactive, positive safety culture with the project team
  • Conduct safety orientations and project-specific training for all new hires
  • Facilitate supervisor and foreman safety meetings and specialty trainings (e.g., respirator fit tests)
  • Assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis alongside project leadership
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety standards
  • Review and support Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and pre-task planning
  • Address safety concerns and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and improve safety risks as projects evolve

YOU’RE READY FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or 4–6 years of construction safety experience
  • Proven success with OSHA ratings, EMR, and loss-time record management
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with concrete and advance manufacturing preffered
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 + STSC certification required
  • Additional certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST) strongly preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Effective communicator across all levels, including subcontractors and clients
  • Confident presenter in both individual and group settings
  • Able to implement EH&S programs and safety procedures
  • Always maintains professionalism and confidentiality

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Award winning culture – consistently recognized by Best Places to Work in Arizona, Utah, and Idaho
  • Competitive pay –  weekly paychecks, salary, bonus incentives, 401(k) with employer match
  • Holistic benefits – Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, & Disability Insurance; financial literacy resources, and an Employee Assistant Program including legal and mental health support.
  • Perks – tenure awards including pro sports tickets, fitness memberships, travel vouchers, and paid work anniversary sabbaticals.
  • Award winning work – our projects are consistently honored with recognitions from AIA, ENR, AGC, and more.
