Laborer Position Status: 12 Month FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Custodial Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, day shift Advertised Salary: $17.10 – $18.10 per hour. A valid driver’s license at hire yields $18.10/hr; otherwise $17.10/hr. Overtime opportunities are available. General Description SUNY Niagara seeks a dependable, detail-oriented Laborer to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include routine cleaning tasks, following written and oral instructions, and providing strong customer service. Reliable attendance is essential. Typical Work Activities Cleans and services buildings: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and waxing floors in offices, halls, classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, corridors, stairwells, and other common areas. Clears lighting fixtures, replaces bulbs, washes windows, moves furniture, cleans walls, wipes furniture, dusts, and cleans black-and-white boards. Assists with outside work such as sweeping walkways, shoveling snow, trash pickup, and salting adjacent to buildings. Picks up and disposes of trash or soiled linen. May assist with loading and unloading trucks for special event material and supplies. Essential Functions Physical ability to lift light to moderate weight, perform routine manual work under all weather conditions, and maintain physical endurance and condition commensurate with the position requirements.
