Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing supervision and leadership in the operational activities of the family support department to ensure donor decisions are supported and advocacy for donation opportunity is maintained within our community. This position will hold the Family Services responsible for obtaining yearly departmental KPIs and metrics set by the organization. As part of the Lifebanc leadership team, the Manager of Family Services is also responsible for fostering an organizational culture that is based on collaboration, support, and constructive feedback, enabling the organization to uphold our core values (service, teamwork, integrity, commitment, innovation, and quality).

Essential Functions:

Provide direct supervision and leadership to Family Services Coordinators.

Manages and coaches the Family Services Coordinators and clinical staff (as needed) in the approaches with the appropriate next of kin for organ, tissue and eye (O/T/E) donation.

Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.

Manages all aspects of the employment cycle (interview, onboard, training, discipline, performance management and offboarding).

Works collaboratively with quality team to review audits and address deficiencies when noted.

Participates with the health care team during end-of-life discussions with next of kin and/or significant others of potential and registered O/T/E if possible.

Provides/seeks training to ensure staff is current on the required training for their roles quarterly.

Ensures staff is providing informed authorization or disclosure to all donor families or agents.

Performs monthly audits of reports to monitor department and individual goals.

Maintain the ability to conduct a comprehensive medical social history interview with the next of kin, significant others and/or healthcare professionals of potential organ and tissue donors in compliance with CMS, AATB, FDA, and/or OPTN regulations and Lifebanc policies and provided support to donor families during the donation and recovery process.

Completes the electronic Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) per Lifebanc policies and standards.

Completes accurate reporting and documentation during shift change to ensure donor families remain supported.

Oversees and provides corrections/review/completion of donor charts.

Ensures team coverage and support for donor families that remain on-site at the hospital during the donor case.

Ensures all staff completes mandatory consent training on a quarterly basis as well as annual competency as required by the role.

Collaborates with key hospital staff members in real-time on all active referrals and/or cases as needed.

Conducts individual/departmental huddles and meetings with staff.

Ensures that all departmental responsibilities are completed correctly and in a timely manner.

Supervises the donor family outcome letters and completes quarterly audit to ensure compliance.

Assist in the development and day-to-day management of the departmental budget.

Review and approve schedules, timecards, PTO requests, expense reports, and purchase orders for direct reports.

Provide data and reporting support for departmental scorecards and strategic planning initiatives.

Participate in policy review, development, and implementation of new procedures and guidelines.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in healthcare related fields and/or social work counseling from an accredited university and/or 5 years of Organ Procurement Organizational experience.

Minimum 5 years' work experience in professional health-care environment.

Knowledge of regulations related to organ donation (Joint Commission, CMS, AATB, FDA, OPTN) required.

Knowledge of organ, tissue and eye donation process required.

3 years of previous supervisory and/or administrative call experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to assess situations and people and respond in a professional manner.

Skill in presenting information to various audiences in an engaging and professional manner

Ability to initiate interpersonal interaction with hospital staff and develop ongoing positive relationships

Communicates job responsibilities and expectations to assure desired results.

Ability to be on call and work extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Daily management and oversite of hospital system team, to include the identification of training and/or development opportunities that will assist the employee in achieving enhanced job performance and/or career objectives, review of personal goals and performance evaluation.

Ensures the necessary compliance training is completed by the team.

Constructively coaches and develops staff to seek optimal performance and promote effective leadership.

Ability to travel to diverse locations to deliver services.

Knowledge of hospital/facility infrastructure.

Ability to prioritize based on emergent needs.

Current valid drivers' license and automobile insurance.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 25 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods of time.
