Lead a Night-Shift Operation with Impact

Schedule: Sunday–Thursday, 8:45 PM–6:00 AM

Work Setting: Clean, climate‑controlled production environment with professional standards

What a Night Looks Like

You arrive before the shift, greet each team member, and run a focused pre‑shift huddle that puts people and safety first. Throughout the night, you walk the floor, listen actively, clear roadblocks, and coach. You keep quality tight, production efficient, and documentation precise—while reinforcing a culture of care and recognition.

Purpose of the Role

Key Leadership Responsibilities Safety Stewardship

• Deliver recurring safety training per the safety training program and document it fully.
• Ensure employees and visitors wear required PPE (earplugs, hairnets, safety glasses, gloves).
• Coordinate activities with the plant safety team coordinator.
• Continuously scan for hazards; correct, repair, replace, or quarantine unsafe conditions immediately.
• Respond to incidents promptly and conduct thorough accident investigations.

People-First Culture

• Lead pre‑shift meetings emphasizing safety for self and team.
• Manage by walking around, asking questions, listening, and recognizing wins.

Engagement and Communication

• Conduct semi‑weekly focused walks to solicit input on safety, quality, performance, goals, scheduling, and teamwork.

Quality and Food Safety

• Coordinate and deliver quality training.
• Label/tag production; maintain traceability by recording lot codes.
• Train the team to detect nonconforming materials; isolate, hold, and track them properly.
• Perform downstream tests/measurements; record results in the designated system or forms.
• Communicate out‑of‑spec conditions and any food safety/defense issues immediately.
• Chart and interpret SPC data to identify out‑of‑spec or out‑of‑control trends.

Housekeeping and Sanitization

• Maintain an orderly, clean work area by following the master cleaning and sanitization schedule.
• Proactively address housekeeping/sanitation gaps to protect product food safety.

Throughput, OEE, and Documentation

• Oversee machine processes; justify and record any changes.
• Track efficiencies and adjust to meet/exceed world‑class OEE standards.
• Complete shift inventories; capture production, lot details, and downtime in plant documents and LN.
• Address inefficiencies and partner with Maintenance; ensure CMMS work and inventories are accurate.

Training, Policy, and Administration

• Train production personnel on safety, quality, production, and equipment operation.
• Enforce and monitor company policies and procedures consistently.
• Manage timecards and approve authorized overtime; maintain attendance calendars.
• Approve/deny vacation and personal time; schedule accordingly.
• Administer corrective/disciplinary actions with proper documentation.
• Monitor breaks; hold and document regular shift meetings.
• Participate in TPM events/projects.
• Answer phones and greet visitors professionally per company standards.

Standards and Certifications

• Support food safety/defense programs aligned with SQFI or BRC.
• Coordinate food safety training; follow GMPs, personnel practices, HACCP, and prerequisite programs.
• Work in a way that prevents foreign‑material contamination; escalate issues promptly.

Qualifications

• 2–4 year technical degree (or equivalent military experience).
• Hands‑on versatility: may perform operator, line worker, maintenance mechanic, or forklift duties as needed.
• Proficiency with LN and MS Office; strong written and spoken English.
• Leadership profile: people skills, urgency, accountability, ethics, professionalism, self‑motivation, and a drive to improve the business.

• Complete and accurate entry in NWA Quality Analyst.
• Scrap is monitored and documented each shift.
• Weekly shift meetings held with supporting documentation.
• Complete and accurate OEE and LN data entry.

Physical Requirements

• Climb ladders/stairs/equipment ; maintain agility.
• Stooping and crouching using lower back and legs.
• Reach in multiple directions; stand for extended periods; walk long distances.
• Push/pull objects; lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly.
• Grasp and finger small parts; tactile sensitivity (size/shape/temperature/texture).
• Clear speech and hearing; fine sound discrimination for machine adjustments.
• Repetitive arm/hand/finger movements; close visual inspection of small defects.

Work Environment

• Primarily indoors with occasional outdoor exposure.
• Possible heat exposure above 100&degree;F for periods over one hour.
• Noise and vibration present; proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and chemicals.
• Potential exposure to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
• Air and/or skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids.

Responsibilities may evolve; occasional tasks outside typical scope may be required.
