Job Overview

Medical Recruitment Strategies is seeking an experienced Travel ICU Registered Nurse for a 13-week night-shift assignment.

Requirements

• 2+ years of ICU experience — hard stop

• BSN required

• Active California RN license required

• Travel experience not required

• Epic experience required

• Every-other-weekend coverage

• Comfortable caring for a 1:2 ICU ratio

• Must be comfortable floating to ER or Med/Surg when needed

• Med/Surg float may require ratios of 1:4–5

Required Certifications

• ACLS

• BLS

• PALS

Clinical Skills

• Ventilator management

• BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC

• Arterial line management

• Central line and PICC management

• Blood product administration

• Chest tube management

• ABG interpretation

• Continuous IV sedation and neuromuscular blockade

• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips

• Emergency and procedural sedation

• CVA/acute stroke management

• Hypothermia/Arctic Sun protocols

• CRRT/CVVHD preferred

• Hemodialysis experience

• IV insulin protocols

• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management

• Multisystem organ failure management

Unit Details

• 6-bed ICU

• 9 rooms

• Average daily census: 4–6

• Patient ratio: 1:2

• Patient population: Adolescents, Adults, Pediatrics and Geriatrics

• Possible float to ER or Med/Surg

• Floating to Med/Surg will be considered a last resort

• On-call required

• Call-off may occur based on census

• Every-other-weekend requirement

Additional Information

• Interdisciplinary support includes Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Radiology, PT, Social Services, Phlebotomy and Interpretation Services

• Orientation: 12 hours

• Local candidates should be reviewed according to facility requirements
