About the role The Accounting Supervisor supports the CFO and Director of Accounting in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department. What you'll do DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the month-end close cycle, coordinating journal entry preparation, review and sign-off within established close-day targets to keep reporting on schedule. Manage a team of staff accountants and accounting specialists, setting performance expectations, conducting reviews, and providing coaching that closes skill gaps and supports professional growth. Respond to inquiries of staff regarding financial procedures for the purpose of providing information, direction and/or referral for addressing inquiry. Develop processes and procedures for monthly general ledger account reconciliations. Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial reports to management. Ad Hoc analyses as needed. Other projects and duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY DUTIES: Interviewing, hiring, orienting and training employees. Trains, schedules, assigns, and reviews work of staff. Ability to engage with the department in a positive meaningful manner. Able to identify individual strengths within the team to better facilitate the distribution of work. Coaching and appraising performance. Rewarding and disciplining employees. Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a minimum of 7 years' accounting experience and/or training; a minimum of 2 years of directly managing a team. CPA designation a plus. Computer skills: Highly proficient with MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and accounting software (Sage Intacct experience a plus) Analytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs workflows and procedures.
