Supervisor, Laboratory Operations (Shift) Full Time Management Salt Lake City, UT, US Purpose This position is responsible for the overall performance of their assigned laboratory shift. This includes running specific laboratory equipment and testing samples daily that require special knowledge of processes. Responsibilities also include lab equipment maintenance and repair, supervision of lab employees, movement of employees to facilitate proper workflow, and inventory control. Essential Functions Approves overtime Manages end of shift and safety checklists Manages QC paperwork Administer disciplinary actions and reviews Manager hazardous waste/used oil pick up Inventory management Help with interviews Manage production reports Perform daily routine lab analysis Inspect, maintain and repair laboratory equipment Supervise lab employees and facilitate production Responsible for inventory control Observe and read instrumentation to determine operating conditions during testing Train lab new and existing lab personnel Plan schedules and work flow Monitor department production and report statistics Assist in safety training and compliance Conduct employee reviews and disciplinary actions Audit production for accuracy Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications & Requirements Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to petroleum products, fumes, odors, mists, and dusts OSHA Training Demonstrated ability to manage staff or 3 years supervisory experience Wearing of personal protective equipment as required Ability to work under pressure and deadlines Ability to multi-task Basic mathematics skills Lift or move up to 50 lbs. regularly Detail oriented Ability to distinguish between colors High School diploma or equivalent Supervisory experience Chemistry training or laboratory experience preferred Additional Skills General lab safety training Hazmat training OSHA training RCRA training POLARIS Quality System Training Internal Auditor Training Safety Requirements OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety. At POLARIS Laboratories, when going through the Laboratory it is required that you wear eye protection. Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. POLARIS Laboratories provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
