Public Relations Specialist

THE OPPORTUNITY

This position is based at The Cirlot Agency's Jackson headquarters and requires full-time, on-site work. Remote and freelance arrangements are not available. The Cirlot Agency is seeking a Public Relations Specialist who can turn complex ideas into clear, credible and compelling communications. This role is for an exceptional writer and intellectually curious communicator who understands that public relations is not simply about generating attention; it is about strengthening reputation, advancing business objectives and creating measurable value for clients. You will work alongside experienced strategists, writers, creatives and business-development professionals on behalf of sophisticated organizations, from Fortune 100 companies to leading privately held businesses. Our work spans aerospace, defense, security and other complex industries in which accuracy, judgment and execution matter.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Research, write and edit persuasive short- and long-form content, including media materials, feature stories, bylined articles, executive communications, speeches, scripts, web content and thought-leadership pieces. Translate technical, regulated or otherwise complex subject matter into accurate, accessible stories for business, trade and national audiences. Identify timely news hooks, story angles, media targets and speaking or thought-leadership opportunities based on a strong understanding of each client's business and strategic priorities. Build and maintain targeted media lists; support proactive pitching, media follow-up, interview preparation and relationship development with relevant journalists and editors. Contribute to integrated public relations and communications plans, campaign concepts, editorial calendars and tactical recommendations. Support day-to-day client service by preparing for meetings, documenting next steps, coordinating deliverables and communicating with professionalism. Monitor news, industry developments and cultural conversations that may create opportunities or risks for clients. Track media activity and campaign performance, help prepare clear client reports and connect communications results to defined business objectives. Edit and proofread team materials, safeguarding AP style, factual accuracy, consistency, tone and the highest standards of written communication. Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while taking ownership of details, follow-through and the quality of the final product.

WHAT YOU BRING

One to three years of relevant professional experience in public relations, journalism, strategic communications, corporate communications or a related field. A bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communications, English or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Outstanding writing, editing, research and storytelling skills, demonstrated through strong work samples. A journalistic mindset: curious, accurate, resourceful and able to find the important story within complicated information. Working knowledge of AP style and the standards required for media-ready and executive-level communications. Sound judgment, discretion and confidence working with sensitive information and exacting clients. The ability to think strategically and creatively while executing with precision. Strong organization, time management and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. An active interest in current events, business, public policy and the forces shaping client industries. A positive, low-ego approach and a willingness to learn, contribute and do what the work requires.
