This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.**Job Type**Unclassified**Department**Enterprise Technology**About the Position**The Enterprise Architect (EA) plays a critical role in shaping the future of technology services for Maricopa County. This position offers the opportunity to help modernize and standardize enterprise platforms, influence strategic technology decisions, and build the foundational architecture that enables secure, reliable, and innovative services across the County.As part of the Enterprise Architecture practice, the EA will serve as the primary architecture lead for the Compute, Hosting, and Platform Services domain while collaborating across all enterprise architecture service areas. This role combines strategic planning, technical architecture, governance, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure technology solutions align with business capabilities, operational needs, and long-term County priorities.The Enterprise Architect will work closely with Business Engagement Managers, infrastructure and operations teams, cybersecurity, portfolio management, application teams, and executive leadership to define architecture standards, guide modernization initiatives, improve service lifecycle management, and strengthen dependency and service mapping across the enterprise.This is an exciting opportunity for a technology leader who enjoys solving complex enterprise challenges, influencing organizational direction, and building scalable architecture practices that drive measurable business value. Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZ**We Require*** Seven years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise architecture; with five years in at least three of the following: + Cloud Architecture + Infrastructure and hosting platforms + Identity and access management + Networking and connectivity + Enterprise applications + System integration + Disaster recovery and resiliency + IT service management* Experience developing or contributing to architectural standards, reference architectures, governance processes, or enterprise technology roadmaps* Experience in communicating technical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders* Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related fields* A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis.**We Also Value*** Certifications and knowledge of: + TOGAF + Azure Architect + AWS Architect + VMware + ITL + CISSP**Job Contributions*** **Enterprise Architecture** - Align enterprise technology architecture with business capabilities, departmental roadmaps, and County strategic priorities through current-state and future-state planning activities.* **Domain Architecture Ownership -** Serve as the primary architecture owner for compute hosting and platform services, including cloud, hybrid infrastructure, resiliency, and platform standards.* **Architecture Standards and Patterns** - Develop, maintain, and govern enterprise architecture standard, reference architecture, service definitions, and reusable technology patterns.* **Architecture Governance & Review -** Participate in architecture governance activities, including solution reviews, standards validation, risk identification, and design guidance to ensure alignment with enterprise direction.* **Cross- Domain Collaboration -** Create and collaborate with architects, technical teams across identity, networking, integration, applications, resiliency, and security domains to ensure interoperability and dependency alignment.* **Service Mapping and Dependency Architecture -** Develop and maintain service to system mappings, dependency models, and architecture documentation supporting operational resiliency, change management, and impact analysis.* **Technology Roadmaps & Lifecycle Planning -** Contribute to enterprise technology roadmaps, modernization strategies platform lifecycle planning, and capacity planning initiatives.* **Portfolio and Investment Support -** Provide architectural guidance and technical analysis supporting technology investment decisions, portfolio alignment, service costing, and total cost of ownership evaluations.* **Continuous Improvement and EA Practice Maturity -** Contribute to the ongoing development and maturity of the Enterprise Architecture practice, including process improvement, governance refinement, and architecture documentation standards.**Working Conditions*** Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree.* Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.**Selection Procedure*** Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications* Candidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profile* Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitiveMaricopa County is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all applicants.
