The County of San Diego, Air Pollution Control District (APCD) has immediate openings for: Account Clerk Selected candidates will be hired at Step 1 $45,864.00 of the salary range. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5 Interviews will take place the week of September 21st, 2026. Job offers for selected candidates will be made after the interviews have been completed. Future Salary Increase: June 2027 4.67% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 1.67% Market Adjustment)

About the position Account Clerks are responsible for performing basic accounting and routine statistical functions, collecting and accounting for money, classifying data according to prescribed accounting systems, posting and balancing of subsidiary ledgers, and processing warrants, encumbrances and claims. Hiring Timeline and Dates The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.

• Job Offer and Background Process begins shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
• Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
• Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon.

Minimum Qualifications

1. One (1) year of work experience performing bookkeeping, fiscal or statistical activities/assignments, OR, An associate's degree from an accredited U. S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency with a minimum of twelve (12) semester units of accounting, OR, Completion of a certified business or accounting program from a recognized college or university.
