Job Description

The Production Associate monitors and operates industrial mixing machines and centrifuges, supports material handling using forklifts and overhead cranes, and helps maintain a clean, safe, and efficient production area. This role involves frequent heavy lifting and working in a dirty manufacturing environment where soil-based products are processed throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Monitor industrial mixing machines and centrifuges to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
• Watch for signs of jamming, clogging, or irregular performance and report issues promptly to the appropriate personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around all production equipment.
• Operate a sit-down forklift to retrieve and transport large soil-compound bags as needed.
• Use a remote-controlled overhead crane to hoist, move, and position bags onto the mixing machines accurately and safely.
• Assist production staff with material handling, staging, and general tasks to keep workflow running smoothly.
• Follow all established safety procedures, production guidelines, and standard operating processes at all times.
• Perform heavy lifting of product, including bags weighing up to 70 pounds, as needed during the shift.
• Support general labor activities such as basic assembly, packaging, and use of hand tools as required by production demands.

Essential Skills

• Ability to monitor and operate industrial mixing machines and centrifuges safely and effectively.
• Capability to identify and respond to equipment issues such as jamming, clogging, or irregular performance.
• Experience or comfort operating a sit-down forklift, or willingness to learn through on-site training.
• Ability to use or learn to use a remote-controlled overhead crane for material handling.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting of products up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
• Willingness to work in a dirty manufacturing environment handling soil-based materials.
• Entry-level friendly role with willingness to learn production, general labor, and machine operation tasks.
• Basic comfort with general labor tasks including assembly, packaging, and use of hand tools.
• Commitment to follow safety procedures and production guidelines consistently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous labor or forklift experience is a plus but not required, as training is provided on site.
• Experience in production, general labor, machine operation, or packaging is beneficial.
• Experience using cranes or overhead lifting equipment is an advantage.
• Familiarity with hand tools and basic mechanical tasks is helpful.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively as part of a production team.

Work Environment

All work takes place in a manufacturing plant dedicated to processing soil-based products. The environment is very dirty, as team members open bags of soil and add them to mixers throughout the day. The role involves frequent heavy lifting, operating a sit-down forklift, and using a remote-controlled overhead crane. Team members work around industrial mixing machines and centrifuges and are expected to maintain a safe, organized workspace while adhering to all plant safety and production guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelby, MT.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Shelby,MT.
