About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45-07:15 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2+ years License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must have ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: The unit has 44 beds and is staffed by 95 members. On day shift, the staffing grid includes 2 charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. On night shift, the staffing grid includes 2 charge nurses, 11 RNs, 4 CNAs, and 1 HUC. Patient ratios are typically 4:1 according to the grid, and 5:1 when stretched. The unit is equipped with IV pumps, Skylifts, PCA pumps, chest tubes, trachs, and patient lifts. The EMR system used is Cerner. Most recruited skill sets include neuro and trauma care experience. Candidates with neuro and trauma care experience will be considered first. Typical procedures performed on the unit include neuro and spinal checks, C-Collar placement, TLSO braces, chest tube management, PCA pump administration, IV infusions, lumbar drain management, feeding tube placement, and blood transfusions. The ideal candidate will be a team player and patient-focused. Floating may occur to stepdown units or medical-surgical units. The dress code is navy blue scrubs. Every other weekend is required. Position created for contractor replacement.
