Virtual IT Coach: Education Tech & Training

Job Title IT Coach Position Summary The IT Coach supports staff, students, and families in the effective use of technology within a fully virtual school environment. This position provides training, troubleshooting, and instructional technology support related to the school’s primary platforms, including PowerSchool, Canvas, and Zoom. The IT Coach serves as a bridge between instructional staff and technology systems by helping teachers integrate digital tools effectively, supporting virtual classroom operations, and ensuring students and families can successfully access online learning. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Technology Support: Provide daily technical support to teachers, staff, students, and families in a virtual setting; troubleshoot hardware, software, login, connectivity, and access issues; support user account management and password resets; assist with setup and maintenance of devices; and monitor and respond to help desk requests in a timely and professional manner. Instructional Technology Coaching: Train teachers and staff on effective use of virtual learning platforms and educational technology tools; support best practices for online instruction and student engagement; assist teachers in creating and managing courses within Canvas; support use of Zoom features; help staff utilize PowerSchool for attendance, grading, communication, and reporting. Training and Professional Development: Develop and deliver virtual training sessions for staff, students, and families; create user guides, video tutorials, and technology resources; provide onboarding support for new employees; stay current on emerging educational technology trends and recommend improvements. Data and Systems Support: Assist with student enrollment and data verification processes within PowerSchool; support accurate attendance and grade reporting procedures. Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff; communicate technical information clearly; support family engagement; participate in staff meetings and professional development. Qualifications Required: Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Education Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience supporting technology in an educational environment; experience with PowerSchool, Canvas, and Zoom or similar platforms; strong troubleshooting and customer service skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently in a fast‑paced virtual environment; ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Preferred: Experience in a fully virtual or blended school environment; teaching or instructional coaching experience; knowledge of student information systems and learning management systems; experience creating technology training materials and presentations; bilingual skills. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of virtual learning environments and online instructional practices. Ability to explain technical concepts in user-friendly language. Strong organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships. Ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions. Working Conditions Fully remote/virtual work environment. Frequent use of computers, video conferencing platforms, and digital communication tools. May require occasional evening or weekend support for school events or trainings. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer. Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video conference, and email. Ability to occasionally lift and move technology equipment up to 25 pounds. Terms of Employment Contract length and salary determined by school board and administration. Position Policy Position follows all school policies, procedures, and state regulations.
