Fire Service Technician

We are recruiting a Service Technician to maintain and repair electronic fire alarm systems and related products at customer sites. What You Will Do Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center and evaluate equipment/system malfunctions. Contact customer representatives to assess problems and gather necessary information. Diagnose issues and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other building system products. Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and reference technical manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices to repair equipment. Service, troubleshoot, and install various Fire & Life Safety systems, including SimplexGrinnell. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, software systems, schematics, and operational manuals. Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction. Complete Service Acknowledgments with proper coding using smartphones and laptop computers. Obtain customer signatures upon completion of service call assignments. Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation and help train or mentor others on the service team. Provide customers with high‑level service to address building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items; act as a trusted advisor by delivering solutions during service. Perform other duties as assigned. How You Will Do It Troubleshoot and repair installed systems, including panel repair/reprogramming, device replacement/repair, low‑voltage circuit troubleshooting, and system testing. Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to ensure efficient execution of all tasks. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and outstanding customer service abilities. Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels. Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks is a plus. Complete and submit all required task‑related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner. Be available for on‑call and after‑hours work as occasionally required by customer needs. Provide recommendations and solutions to keep facilities running efficiently, including upselling opportunities. Submit quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Required At least 3 years of experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communication systems. Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications. Good working knowledge of computers. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Capability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50‑70 lbs; ability to work in unusual or difficult positions such as ladders, scaffolding, high‑lift equipment up to 40 feet, ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings. Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements. Possible overnight travel. Demonstrate a high level of customer service. Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs. Adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times. Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly. Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements. Retention of any licenses required by national, state, and local codes. Preferred Technical training. NICET II certification.
