Senior Accountant

Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing advanced accounting functions that require the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment. This position plays a key role in financial reporting, general ledger oversight, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The role requires a high level of analytical ability, professional judgment, and technical accounting knowledge.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Maintain and oversee the integrity of the general ledger, including review and approval of journal entries
• Perform complex account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide recommendations to management
• Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Support external audits and regulatory examinations by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and reporting requirements
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis
• Provide guidance and oversight to junior accounting staff, as applicable
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support organizational objectives and financial decision-making
• Assist with special projects, system implementations, and process improvements

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Public accounting or financial institution experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data and exercise independent judgment
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
