Property Accountant

Location: Central Orange County, CA

Compensation: $39-48/hour DOE

Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite

About the Opportunity

Our client is a privately held real estate investment, development, and property management organization with a diversified portfolio of multifamily and commercial properties throughout Southern California. They are seeking a Property Accountant to join their growing accounting team and support the financial operations of a mixed portfolio of real estate assets.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has experience with both multifamily and commercial property accounting.

Position Summary

The Property Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of an assigned portfolio, including financial reporting, month-end close, account reconciliations, budgeting support, and property performance analysis. The ideal candidate will possess strong Yardi experience and a solid understanding of real estate accounting principles.


Responsibilities

Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements for assigned properties.

Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts, bank accounts, and intercompany accounts.

Review and analyze property operating results and budget variances.

Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.

Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

Prepare tenant billings, operating expense reconciliations, and CAM reconciliations for commercial properties.

Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Support internal and external audit requests.

Partner with property management and operations teams to resolve financial issues and improve reporting accuracy.

Utilize Yardi to maintain property financial records and generate reports.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

3+ years of property accounting experience.

Experience accounting for both multifamily and commercial real estate portfolios strongly preferred.

Proficiency with Yardi Voyager required.

Strong understanding of GAAP and property accounting principles.

Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and financial analysis.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
