This role encompasses oversight and execution of environmental studies, field investigations, data interpretation, and high-level regulatory and technical support aligned with the department’s focus areas. The position plays a key role in managing a diverse portfolio of projects across air, water, and waste programs, while actively strengthening client relationships and contributing to the strategic growth of service offerings.

This position requires deep knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and industry best practices, along with the ability to exercise independent professional judgment on complex issues. This position involves a combination of office-based technical work and field activities, typically approximately 70% office and 30% field or travel, depending on project and departmental needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage complex environmental compliance projects across air, water, and waste programs from scoping through closeout
  • Serve as primary client contact, fostering strong relationships and ensuring high-quality service delivery
  • Interpret and apply environmental regulations, providing strategic compliance guidance and solutions
  • Oversee environmental assessments, field investigations, and data analysis, ensuring technical accuracy and defensibility
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources while maintaining accountability for deliverable quality (QA/QC)
  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including subject matter experts and project leadership
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and identification of growth opportunities
  • Perform environmental fieldwork, inspections, monitoring, or sampling activities as required by assigned projects
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, field logs, and records to support audits, regulatory reviews, or internal quality control
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies or stakeholders as directed to support permitting, reporting, inspections, or project coordination
  • Stay informed of relevant environmental regulations, guidance, and industry best practices applicable to assigned work
