Are you good with your hands? Do you enjoy working on cars, farming, or building things, but want to learn a high-paying, lifelong trade?
DS Mold & Die is a locally owned industrial machining and tool shop right here in Belding, MI. We are looking for a hard-working Shop Assistant & CNC Trainee . You don't need any prior manufacturing experience—we will teach you. You just need to have a strong mechanical aptitude, a great work ethic, and a willingness to start from the bottom and learn.

Key Responsibilities
- Start with the Basics: Keep the shop floor clean, organized, and safe.
- Material Prep: Cut raw materials to size using band saws and assist with loading/unloading trucks.
- Part Finishing: Deburr (file and smooth) finished metal parts as they come off the CNC machines.
- Learn the Trade: Shadow our experienced Tool & Die Makers and CNC Machinists.
- Level Up: Over time, learn how to read blueprints, use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers), and eventually load, operate, and run CNC machines yourself.
Qualifications
- No prior CNC or machining experience is required!
- Strong mechanical aptitude (experience in auto repair, construction, farming, or general trades is a huge plus).
- Solid basic math skills and the ability to read a standard tape measure.
- Reliable, punctual, and willing to do the "dirty work" to help the shop run smoothly.
- Reliable transportation to Belding, MI.
