Medical Laboratory Scientist

Responsibilities Analyze biologic specimens of human origin to quantify or qualify clinically relevant properties. Integrate and transmit derived information to assist in diagnosis or monitoring of human disease. Interpret and apply operating procedures or technical standards to problems of moderate complexity. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or closely related field. Minimum 1 year experience as Medical Laboratory Scientist. Certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by ASCP or equivalent. Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as blood analysis, microbiology testing, chemistry, hematology, and molecular diagnostics. Experience with laboratory instruments and tools such as microscopes, centrifuges, analyzers, spectrophotometers, and automated diagnostic machines. Ability to analyze laboratory results, identify trends, and interpret data accurately using specialized software. Knowledge of quality control, equipment calibration, internal validation, and external audits. Familiarity with laboratory safety regulations, infection control measures, and handling hazardous materials. Understanding of clinical pathology and laboratory medicine, including test use in diagnosing or monitoring medical conditions. Experience in documenting lab results, maintaining patient records, and creating reports per clinical and regulatory standards. Knowledge of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (U.S.) or local standards. Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to manage test results and generate reports. Experience in sample preparation, sterilization, and preventing contamination.
