Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Location

Bismarck, ND | Inpatient

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-hour rotating shifts (Days/Nights), every other weekend and every other holiday | Expected 36 hours/week | Hours of operation: 6:00 AM–6:30 PM and 6:00 PM–6:30 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for observation and inpatient populations including chest pain, abdominal pain, post-operative, and infusion patients requiring blood or antibiotics
• Manage high patient turnover in a fast-paced environment, including multiple admissions and discharges within a single 12-hour shift — strong organizational skills are essential
• Perform IV starts, Foley catheter insertion, dressing changes, and other standard nursing skills for pre- and post-operative patients
• Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR and administer medications using Acudose narcotic dispensing system with medication scanning
• May float to other Med-Surg units on the same rotation schedule as permanent staff
• Work as part of a team at all times — clinicians will never work alone; nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, 24/7 on a 24-bed unit

Required Qualifications

• Active North Dakota RN license or valid Compact RN license
• BLS certification (current)
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR and electronic medication administration/scanning systems
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage high patient volumes and rapid turnover
• Must badge in and out at the facility for every shift
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must live more than 80 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Medical-Surgical or observation unit setting
• Experience caring for pre- and post-operative patients
• Familiarity with Acudose or similar narcotic dispensing systems
• Experience managing high-acuity, high-turnover patient assignments
