Airport Dispatcher

Job Title

Under the general supervision of the Airport Operations Supervisor, provides communication and support to airport employees, tenants, users and customers as well as monitors the airport access control and camera systems.

Essential Functions/Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include receiving and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, processing and evaluating information, monitoring and coordinating airport operations activity, operating multi-channel public safety radio system, answering questions and providing information to the public, monitoring and operating access control system, creating and maintaining accurate logs of airport operations communications activity, coordinating with Airport Police to conduct daily TSA Part 1542 required inspections, monitoring weather conditions, documenting wildlife activity and strike incidents, operating various equipment, maintaining security and confidentiality of information, keeping informed of all departmental policies and security/emergency procedures, developing knowledge of the airport layout and surrounding areas, and following and complying with all safety and work rules and regulations.

Other job functions include performing other duties as assigned or directed, working night, weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled, working overtime as needed, maintaining a professional appearance, maintaining a professional attitude and clarity of work despite busy or stressful situations.

Required Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED supplemented by previous experience in a high public contact/customer service area that required decision making and problem solving under stressful conditions. Preferred qualifications include 2 years' experience working at a General Aviation or Commercial Service Airport. Conditions of employment include passing a drug screen, driving record and background check, having a Class C Texas Driver's License, passing a TSA-mandated 10-year Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA).

Physical Demands/Supplemental

Physical demands involve the ability to communicate with the public and staff in person and on the telephone; type, enter data, review, sort and write; exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Work environment tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
