Job Title Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist - James West Campus Department James | WCA James Lab Scope of Position The James Outpatient Care Clinical Laboratory provides comprehensive, time‑sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The clinical laboratory staff performs testing on patient specimens utilizing chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, transfusion services, and assists with bone marrow procedures. The laboratory also provides training for residents, new staff, and medical technology students. Staffing is 24 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with hours varying on weekends and holidays. Position Summary The senior clinical laboratory professional provides advanced technical or operational experience within the Clinical Laboratory. Responsibilities include performing specialized automated and manual laboratory procedures, verifying and reporting test requests and results, and directly managing the technical quality of tests performed. Administrative duties involve instrument technical requirements including validations, creation and execution of section competencies, section QA/QI responsibilities, technical procedure writing and implementation, assisting with scheduling, training, and record‑keeping. The role reports to the division director, lead technologist, and lab manager. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Med Lab Science, or Biological Science. American Society of Clinical Pathology certification as Medical Technologist, Medical Lab Technician, or Medical Lab Scientist. 1 year of relevant experience required; 2–4 years preferred. Location James Outpatient Care (1043) Position Type Regular Hours and Shift 40 hours per week with varying shifts.
