Certified Medication AideThe Certified Medication Aide role is to assist the licensed nurse in providing safe and ethical care for clients-that is, administering prescribed drugs and completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by New Mexico Nurse Practice Act.Position status: Full time or Part timeTransportation: RequiredJob Requirements:The Certified Medication Aide roles is to assist the licensed nurse in providing safe and ethical care for clients-that is, administering prescribed drugs and completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by New Mexico Nurse Practice Act.Essential Functions:Administer oral, inhalation and topical medications to patients under direct supervision of a licensed nurse unless otherwise allowed by state law.Observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to thePerforming tasks associated with medication administration, including patient vital signs, calculate medication dosages and stock the medication cart.Recording medication administration according to agency procedureAssists the nurse in providing care to clients, which includes observation and reporting of client needsRecognizes and performs tasks according to level of education and trainingAccepts responsibility and accountability for own performance according to state laws andPerforms tasks in an ethical, legal and caring mannerPerforms tasks safely and effectively to assure client comfort and welfareRespects client rightsProtects confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfareFollows federal, state, regulations, and agency policies and procedures.Seeks guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficientlySupport and assist the Individual with ISP Outcomes and Action StepsUtilize Teaching and Support Strategies as outlined in the Individuals ISPProvide the opportunities and support to the Individuals to engage in completing their identified ISP OutcomesParticipate with the Individual in the planning and implementation of the ISPAssess the appropriateness and usefulness of the Individuals treatment plans and Outcomes and notify the Residential Manager of successes and/or concernsSupport and assist the Individuals with ensuring their health and safety needs throughImplementing the applicable plans including, but not limited to: Health Care Plans; Comprehensive Aspiration Risk Management plans; Meal Time PlansEnsure completion of the Individuals Therap Consultation Form for all appointmentsComplete Required DocumentationEnsure that all required, applicable documentation has been completed before leaving your shift, including, but not limited to: T-Logs; ISP Plan form; GERs; MARs; Therap Consultation Forms; Vehicle Checklist, facility checklist, etc.Complete Required Administrative ResponsibilitiesEnsure that you have clocked in/out properly using the Electronic Time System and/or Alternative Documentation of Hours Worked forms as applicableAttend all mandatory meetings, agency and required trainingsMaintain confidential informationCompetencies:Customer/Client Focus; Ethical Conduct; Flexibility; Initiative; Personal Effectiveness/Credibility; Stress Management/Composure; Teamwork Orientation; Technical Capacity; Multi-tasking; Medical Teamwork; Bedside Manner & Compassion; Infection Control; Health Promotion and Maintenance; Creating a Safe, Effective Environment; Informing Others; Judgment; Pain Management.Knowledge and skills:Must be able to speak, read and write in EnglishProficient in use of a personal computer and various software packagesMust have working knowledge of Therap, Time IPS and other agency systems as applicableKnowledge of agency positions and responsibilities, and who to go to with specific questions and/or concernsMust be of good integrity and possess adequate physical, mental and emotional stability so as to meet job duties in a safe and responsible mannerMust have good organizational and time management skillsA general understanding of the DD and Mi Via Waivers, and a working knowledge of Standards for which you are directly responsible (e.g., Supported Living, Customized Community Supports)Able to communicate in a professional, knowledgeable and well-organized manner with co-workers, Individuals and Team members (e.g., Case Manager, Guardian, Family Member, BSC, SLP)Able to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without hands-on supervisionAble to handle and resolve recurring problemsWork Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and some mechanical equipment. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.Travel:This position may require less than 25% travel, dependent on the Great Livin' location that you are assigned to.Required Education and Experience:Certified Medication Aid as required by New Mexico Board of NursingHigh school diploma or GEDMust be 18 years oldAt least one of health care industry experienceCPRAgreeable to additional job-related training and keep CMA in good standingAdditional Eligibility Qualifications:Pass required background checksTB TestJob Related Certification(s)/Trainings, as and when deemed necessary by Great Livin'II LLC and / or the state of New Mexico .
