Senior Development ManagerThe Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) and the ELM Action Fund (ELM AF) advocate for policy and build political power in Massachusetts to meet the scale and urgency of our environmental challenges.We seek a Senior Development Manager to drive engagement and stewardship of corporate and foundation partners and individual donors. The Senior Manager will report to the VP of Development and Finance and work closely with all staff members including the President and Leadership Team members.Responsibilities:Identify and research prospective corporate, foundation and individual partners and donorsDevelop and drive plans to engage prospective partnersPrepare meeting briefs for prospective partners and support ELM staff in developing new relationshipsLead the outreach process for prospective sponsors of ELM's annual Earth Night eventPartner Engagement and StewardshipManage a portfolio of corporate, foundation and middle donors ($500-5,000 annually)Build trust, confidence, and effective collaboration with key partners through in-person meetings, events and effective communicationCreate, document and track progress on stewardship plans for high priority corporate, foundation and individual partnersDraft and/or edit reports for foundation partners and individualsManage engagement and stewardship of ELM Corporate Council members and Earth Night sponsorsDevelop and implement an engagement and stewardship program for middle donors, loyal donors and recurring donorsDonor CommunicationsDraft fundraising materials including email updates, donor engagement materials, proposals, reports, acknowledgement letters, and appealsDraft or advise on talking points for events and meetingsAdditional DutiesDevelop robust understanding of program and policy goals to articulate organizational value to current and prospective partnersEnsure timely submission of funder proposals and reportsAssist in preparation and tracking of proposal budgets and financial reportsAdvise and assist in planning and execution of eventsAdvise and support in setting Development and Corporate Engagement goals, objectives, and processesQualifications:Required3-5 years of Development experienceExperience in proposal and report writing and donor engagement and stewardshipUnderstanding of Development strategies, systems, and processesExperience with budget and financial report preparationSuperior written and oral communications skillsStrong project management and critical thinking skillsCollaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and independentlyPassion for ELM's Purpose, Mission, Vision, and ValuesCommitment to centering racial justice and equity in ELM's work and ensuring an inclusive organizational culturePreferredExperience in environmental, climate, and/or clean energy organizationsExperience with Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP)Experience with 501(c)4 or political and candidate fundraisingCompensation & Benefits:$85,000-100,000, depending on experience. ELM provides 6 weeks paid time off per year in addition to holidays and the days between Christmas and New Years, health and dental insurance, a Health Savings Account, and a 403(b) retirement plan with an organizational match.This full-time role requires occasional morning and evening commitments outside of the standard 9-5 office hours. The position is based in Boston, MA and will require periodic travel within Massachusetts.
