Credit Analyst TraineeCountryPlace Mortgage, a leading nationwide personal property, mortgage and commercial lender headquartered in Plano, TX, is seeking a Credit Analyst Trainee to help grow our Originations Department. This in-person role is in our Plano, TX office. As a Credit Analyst Trainee, you will collaborate with Loan Officers, Loan Processors, Underwriting, Compliance team and other essential departments. The Credit Analyst Trainee will be responsible for performing a detailed review of loan documentation. This includes reviewing the credit application, credit reports, income documentation, asset documentation and any other loan documentation required to render a credit decision.The Credit Analyst Trainee serves as a developmental pipeline role for future Credit Analysts. In addition to reviewing loan documentation and supporting the loan decision process, the position will develop foundational underwriting knowledge, credit analysis skills, and investor guideline expertise necessary to independently evaluate loan eligibility and advance into a Credit Analyst role.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReview and analyze loan application, credit report, income and asset documentation to render credit decisions in compliance with investor guidelinesMaintain the highest level of service possible for retailers and customersProvide unparalleled service, ensuring needs are met in a timely and accurate mannerEffectively communicate the loan approval or denial reasons to appropriate partyWork with internal staff to provide follow-up, counter offers and additional informationRefer loan requests with recommendations and documentation to underwritersReviews conditions submitted on approved loans, clears conditions when appropriate and submits to Credit Analyst for review and approvalEnsure loans adhere to investor guidelinesAnalyze borrower credit profiles and identify strengths, weaknesses, and compensating factorsCalculate and validate borrower income, assets, and debt-to-income ratios under applicable investor guidelinesDevelop a working knowledge of manufactured housing lending programs and underwriting standardsReview appraisal, title, survey, and collateral documentation to identify potential issues requiring escalationParticipate in loan scenario discussions and recommendation reviews with Credit Analysts and underwritersResearch investor guideline requirements and apply findings to loan file reviewDemonstrate progressive ability to independently evaluate loan eligibility and risk factorsComplete cross-training and developmental underwriting assignments as part of Credit Analyst career progressionAssist Loan Officers by completing service orders and reviewing condition submissionsConduct trainings for new employeesAssist servicing department by collecting payments during times of high volumeAbility to adjust work and thought process to accommodate multiple investor guidelinesConsistently meets and exceeds individual, team and department objectivesPerform other duties and special projects as assignedPosition Requirements, Capabilities & SkillsEffective written, verbal communication and interpersonal skillsCapable organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-taskStrong analytical and critical thinking skillsAbility to interpret and apply lending guidelines across multiple investorsStrong research and decision-making capabilitiesAbility to evaluate financial documentation and identify risk factorsAbility to analyze borrower qualification ratios and supporting documentationSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently while exercising sound judgmentHighly organized and solutions-focused with a commitment to accuracyAbility to identify and resolve problems in a timely mannerEmploy a strong sense of urgency and ownership in all activitiesAbility to work well with a wide range of peoplePositive & professional demeanorMinimum QualificationsBA/BS degree required in Marketing, Business, Accounting, Finance or ManagementDemonstrated aptitude for financial analysis and interpretation of documentationAbility and desire to progress into a Credit Analyst role within approximately six months based on performance and business needsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically ExcelCareer Path DevelopmentThe Credit Analyst Trainee position is designed to prepare employees for advancement into the Credit Analyst role.
