The Quality Inspector supports aerospace precision manufacturing by performing dimensional inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, and managing nonconformances across incoming, in-process, and finished goods. This role ensures strict compliance with engineering specifications, AS9100 standards, and customer requirements while contributing to continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective actions in a growing operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed dimensional inspections on incoming, in-process, and finished aerospace components to ensure they meet engineering drawings and specifications.
• Operate coordinate measuring machines (CMM), with a strong focus on Zeiss systems, to verify complex geometries and critical features.
• Interpret blueprints and apply GD&T principles to accurately assess part conformance and identify deviations.
• Use precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to validate dimensions and tolerances.
• Document inspection results accurately in ERP systems and maintain complete traceability records in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
• Create and process nonconformance reports (NCRs) when parts do not meet specifications, ensuring issues are clearly described and properly recorded.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) by providing detailed inspection data and participating in problem-solving activities.
• Handle and move parts safely, including lifting items up to 50 lbs, and assist with occasional shipping and handling responsibilities.
• Ensure all work complies with customer requirements, internal quality procedures, and aerospace/defense industry standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance inspection processes, documentation accuracy, and overall product quality.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams on the manufacturing floor to resolve quality issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area while following all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety practices.

Essential Skills

• 2–3+ years of quality inspection experience, with approximately 3 years preferred, particularly for weekend shifts.
• Hands-on CMM operation experience (non-negotiable), with the ability to run programs and interpret results.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) interpretation.
• Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to support inspection and shipping/handling responsibilities.
• Basic ERP skills and strong computer literacy for accurate documentation and data entry.
• Experience working in an aerospace or AS9100-regulated quality environment.
• Competence in inspection documentation, including nonconformance reports (NCRs), traceability records, and ERP-based quality records.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Zeiss CMM experience strongly preferred, with the ability to contribute as a plug-and-play operator.
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience strongly preferred, including exposure to programs such as space or high-reliability applications.
• Participation in root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
• Technical training or coursework in manufacturing, metrology, or a related field.
• Experience with documentation and traceability requirements typical of aerospace and defense environments.
• Interest in working with high-impact aerospace and defense components and advanced inspection technologies.
• Motivation to grow with a facility undergoing expansion and operational changes.

Work Environment

This role is based on a manufacturing floor environment that involves machining operations, metal components, and a consistent level of industrial noise. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, and team members work in close proximity to production and inspection equipment. The pace is fast and evolving due to an ongoing facility move and expansion, offering exposure to precision machining and advanced inspection technologies such as Zeiss CMMs and other precision measuring tools. The position includes a blend of inspection duties and occasional shipping and handling responsibilities, including lifting parts up to 50 lbs. Both weekday and weekend shifts are available, with weekend roles offering higher autonomy and a 7% shift differential. The work is hands-on and floor-based rather than a repetitive desk environment, providing opportunities to contribute directly to high-impact aerospace and defense components in a growing operation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Denver, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
