Applications Engineer Switchgear

Salary: $70,000 - 110,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
• 4+ years of experience in electrical equipment estimating or a similar discipline
• Strong working knowledge of electrical theory and industry codes and standards, including IEEE/ANSI, NEC, IBC, and NFPA
• Applied understanding of low- and medium-voltage distribution equipment ratings and design
• Applied understanding of DC systems, UPS systems, HVAC, and pressurization
• Applied understanding of interconnects, conduit, and cable schedules
• Ability to read and interpret electrical specifications and drawings, including single-line, three-line, schematic, wiring, elevation, site plan, and enclosure layout documents
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong planning, time-management, and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Capacity to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities
• Proficiency with Visio, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Microsoft Office Suite

• Review customer-supplied specifications to determine feasibility for manufacturing or supply
• Interpret electrical drawings and related technical documentation to develop accurate proposals
• Translate conceptual customer designs into clear, meaningful commercial and technical offers
• Identify and communicate application concerns before proposal development
• Optimize proposed solutions to benefit both us and our customers
• Draft precise comments that clearly define our offering
• Serve as a technical resource for our sales team
• Support sales with internal and external technical discussions and solution development
• Evaluate competitor and sub-vendor proposals and assess associated risk
• Collaborate with other divisions to create cross-business solutions
• Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive cost proposals
• Participate in customer-facing activities such as client meetings and conferences
• Support cost-reduction initiatives with Engineering and Operations
• Conduct market and competitive studies as needed
• Contribute to the development of new and existing product specifications
• Lead projects when required and coordinate contributions from multiple application engineers
