Applications Engineer - Tech Focused

Salary: $70,000 - 110,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Over 4 years of experience in estimating electrical equipment or similar roles
• Solid understanding of electrical theory and relevant industry standards including IEEE/ANSI, NEC, IBC, and NFPA
• Knowledge of low and medium voltage distribution equipment ratings and design such as LV/MV Switchgear, Motor Control Centers, and Breakers
• Familiarity with DC systems, UPS systems, HVAC, and pressurization
• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical specifications and drawings including single lines, three lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Customer-focused mindset
• Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously
• Effective planning and time management skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities with analytical thinking
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

• Conduct independent reviews of customer-supplied specifications to assess the feasibility of manufacturing or supplying Powell products
• Analyze and interpret electrical drawings including single-lines, three-lines, elevations, control schematics, site plans, and electrical enclosure layouts
• Create precise proposals based on the evaluation and interpretation of customer documentation
• Identify and communicate application concerns before proposal development
• Convert conceptual customer designs into actionable proposals
• Enhance proposed solutions to maximize benefits for both Powell and its customers
• Write clear comments to help articulate Powells offerings
• Serve as a technical resource for Powell Sales
• Support Powell Sales in technical discussions and solutions, both internally and externally
• Conduct competitive evaluations of supplier proposals that contribute to Powell offerings
• Assess risks associated with subcontractor proposals
• Collaborate with other Powell divisions to form cross-business solutions
• Work with minimal oversight on projects that may vary in complexity
• Potentially lead projects requiring input from multiple Application Engineers
• Engage in secondary responsibilities such as participating in sales and marketing activities, cost-out initiatives, market studies, and contributing to product specifications
