Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care for cardiac and neuro patients in a busy telemetry unit, ensuring timely and accurate patient assessment and treatment. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, compassionate care within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses, maintaining strict adherence to protocols.
• Interpret EKGs promptly, recognizing abnormal rhythms and notifying physicians as needed.
• Initiate and manage IV access, including starting IVs and maintaining Pumps.
• Assist with specialized procedures such as pacemaker placements, cardioversions, and post-procedure care.
• Document patient care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate effectively with team members.
• Monitor and respond to patient status changes, ensuring safety and comfort.

Qualifications:

• Valid and current RN license in the state of California.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent telemetry or cardiac/neuro med-surg nursing experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH Stroke Scale preferred.
• Proficient in EKG interpretation, IV starts, and chest tube management.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a team.
• Dependable with quick learning ability to adapt to unit protocols.
