Animal Care TechnicianApply your technical knowledge to perform daily observations to check the health status of animals and report any changes in their environment or condition. Engage in environmental monitoring with associated documentation. Responsibilities include changing and cleaning cages, equipment, water bottles, and food, as well as unpacking and housing animals upon arrival. You will also be responsible for janitorial maintenance of facility rooms, stocking supplies, and preventative maintenance of animal facility equipment and supplies. Additionally, you will perform monthly sanitization of equipment and the facility, while maintaining accurate records of animals, supplies, and equipment.ResponsibilitiesPerform daily observations to assess animals' health status.Report changes in environment and/or animals' condition.Conduct environmental monitoring and maintain associated documentation.Change and clean cages, equipment, water bottles, and food.Unpack and house animals upon arrival.Maintain janitorial upkeep of facility rooms and stock supplies.Carry out preventative maintenance of animal facility equipment and supplies.Perform monthly sanitization of equipment and the facility.Maintain accurate records of animals, supplies, and equipment; restock supplies as needed.Essential SkillsExperience in cleaning, sterilization, and animal husbandry.Proficiency in working with mice.Knowledge in cage wash and animal husbandry.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent technical certificate is required.A minimum of one year of experience in animal care is helpful.Work EnvironmentThe position involves working in several vivariums on campus, each with its own team. The candidate must be a good team player, able to follow basic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and learn lab safety.Flexibility to work overtime is required. Weekend and holiday work is mandatory as this position is deemed essential personnel.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tarrytown, NY.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
